HSAAS, 23 – 24 October 2023 – This year, Hospital Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah UPM has organized its third workshop on fall management and the event was organized by the Fall Intervention team (FIT) in collaboration with the Geriatric unit, Department of Medicine, and Nursing Unit HSAAS. First day, the workshop was officiated by Dr Hakimah Muhammad Sallehuddin, Geriatric Specialist.
The workshop was attended by over 110 healthcare professionals from University Teaching Hospital and Private Hospital. This workshop focused on the importance of identifying and assessing patient risks for falls, developing care plans that incorporate strategies to reduce falls, and implementing protocols for monitoring and responding to falls.

The peer-led format allowed staff and speakers to share their experiences and best practices, including the identification of patients at risk of falling, the assessment of fall risk, and the implementation of fall prevention strategies. The speakers emphasized the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to fall management, involving doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and other healthcare professionals. They also shared their experiences and best practices on fall management. The sessions were interactive, and participants had the opportunity to ask questions and share their own experiences with fall management.

The knowledge gained from the workshop will be useful in improving our fall management practices and reducing the incidence of falls in all hospital. Overall, the peer-led workshop on fall management was a great success, and we look forward to continuing to improve our care practices to ensure the safety of our patients.
