MRSM Taiping Conducts Mumtaz Benchmarking Visit Programme at HSAAS UPM

SERDANG, 5 June 2026 – Hospital Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah (HSAAS), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), welcomed a delegation from Maktab Rendah Sains MARA (MRSM) Taiping, Perak through the Mumtaz Benchmarking Visit Programme held on 5 June 2026.

The programme, which took place from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m., is a high-impact initiative aimed at nurturing students with strong aspirations in the fields of medicine and health sciences through direct exposure to the environment of a university teaching hospital.

Throughout the programme, students were introduced to various aspects of medicine, clinical practice and healthcare services offered at HSAAS UPM. The visit provided participants with valuable insights into the role of a teaching hospital in supporting healthcare services, education and research.

The programme also enhanced students’ understanding of higher education pathways in medicine, including specialised fields such as surgery, internal medicine and health sciences. This exposure is expected to assist students in planning their future academic and career pathways.

One of the highlights of the programme was an interactive sharing session with medical officers serving at HSAAS UPM who are also alumni of MRSM Taiping. Through this session, students gained first-hand insights into the academic journey and professional experiences of successful alumni in the medical field. The session served as a source of inspiration and motivation for students aspiring to pursue careers in healthcare.

In addition, participants had the opportunity to explore the hospital environment and engage with medical officers and academic staff involved in healthcare delivery and medical education. This contextual learning experience is expected to cultivate critical thinking, ethical values and problem-solving skills among students in addressing future healthcare challenges.

HSAAS UPM welcomes initiatives such as this as a platform for knowledge sharing and experiential learning, while fostering interest among young talents in medicine and strengthening strategic collaboration between educational institutions in developing quality human capital for the nation.
