March 4 2024 - Dietetics Department at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS) warmly welcomed a special guest visit consisting of 2 lecturers (Prof. Shuhei Inoue and Ms. Chizuru Kawabata) along with 32 first and second-year undergraduate students from Hokkaido University, Japan. This visit falls under the Dietetics Initiative for Enrichment, Sustainability, and Diversity with Hokkaido University (DIGESTxHokkaidoU) program. These students come from diverse academic backgrounds, including medicine, health sciences, humanities, liberal arts, and more.
The main objective of this program is to provide a platform for knowledge exchange while fostering cultural appreciation and international networking. Through several discussion sessions, presentations, and collaborative activities, the program aims to strengthen the relationship between UPM and Hokkaido University, thereby paving the way for future collaborative research efforts and academic partnerships.
Throughout the program, various engaging activities were conducted, including student presentations, lectures, visits to the Malay Heritage Museum, experiencing the traditional Malay sitting meal, visits to the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah Hospital, UPM, preparation of oral nutritional supplement drinks, and captivating cultural performances by students from both countries. A total 17 FMHS students volunteered for this program.
This interaction not only enriches the academic experience of the participants but also serves as a platform for cultural immersion and shared learning. The Dietetics Department and FMHS, UPM, express gratitude to the participants from Hokkaido University for their involvement and look forward to further collaboration and exchange opportunities in the future.
