DEPARTMENT OF PATHOLOGY

         

The Department of Pathology consists of multiple pathology disciplines/units providing diagnostic services in Hospital Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah (HSAAS). The disciplines under the department include Haematology, Chemical Pathology, Histopathology, Cytopathology, Immunology and Transfusion Medicine. The Mortuary is also part of the department. A wide range of quality laboratory diagnostic tests are offered, made possible by the roles played by a team of Pathologists, Scientists, Scientific Officers, Medical Laboratory Technologists, and other support staff. Monitoring of quality control is strictly adhered to and participation in local and international External Quality Assurance Schemes ensures high-quality service is maintained.

 As a teaching hospital, the department also contributes to the supervision of undergraduates and postgraduates as well as provides infrastructure facilities to support learning.  We also actively participate in research and development activities.
