Pandemic Scientific Responseteam is a working group in Clinical Research Unit (CRU), HPUPM. The expert team members are Associate Professor Dr. Chew Boon How, Dr. Aidalina Mahmud, Associate Professor Dr. Chee Hui Yee, Associate Professor Dr. Chin Yit Siew, Dr. Beng-Kah Song and Associate Professor Dr. Indah S Widyahening. The Research Officer CRU and Dietititon is Nurul Iman Hafizah binti Adanan. The administrative staffs are Dr. Nur Aazifah Ilham, Faridzatul Syuhada Abdul Rashid and Intan Basirah binti Abd Gani.
The main function of this team is to collect, digest and making sense of emerging scientific and research evidence about the SARS-CoV-2, it's variants and diseases caused by them. The team would produce timely comments or summaries on emerging evidence worthy of attention by all clinicians and healthcare staff. Examples of issues that require a response and surveillance are the impacts of the (new) Delta variant/s, new diagnostic tests, efficacy of mixed vaccination with the different vaccines, the use of new treatment to treat Covid-19, best health, life and living practices in the aftermath of the pandemic. Outputs in different forms as appropriate will be produced and circulated to all healthcare workers, stakeholders, general public and others as appropriate. Secondarily, the team can and will actively get involved in primary and/or collaborative research of the local pandemic situation.
