RESQ STROKE EMERGENCY UNIT

            

Regional Emergency Stroke Quick Response (RESQ) initiative is one of the main pillars in stroke care in HSAAS, which aims to provide cutting edge and effective hyperacute stroke services, specifically in the medical thrombolysis and mechanical thrombectomy. These treatments can restore the blood flow to the brain quickly.

Currently stroke is the 3rd cause of mortality in Malaysia and a leading cause of serious, long-term disability in adults. In pursuance of improving the clinical outcomes in a stroke patient, stroke must be rapidly diagnosed and evaluated so that effective treatment can be given within the first few hours of the onset of stroke symptoms.

RESQ Stroke Emergency Unit operates as a front liner dedicated to stroke emergency. Our main function is to provide swift assessment and evaluation together with the neurology, radiology as well as interventional radiology team and subsequently initiate the appropriate acute treatment. Moreover, the unit acts as the main resuscitation or stabilization area for any medical emergency situation that occurs within the hospital.
